I had a car reposed. I am able to buy a car and put my name on the title with a friend. Can they tak

I have been told If I put my name alone on the title the finance company can take the new car as payment on the old car. I can not get insurance without my name being on the title or living in the same house with friends. What can I do?

The only way they can take the new car is if they have a court order to do so. When you financed the car that was repossessed, you agreed that that vehicle was collateral for the loan.

A finance company can not take any other item to pay your debt, unless there is a judgment filed against you, and a court orders that your property be seized. This will almost never happen. Thy usually will order that you wages or bank account be seized, but not other property.
