Downpayments on a car?

I know that financing is sort of weird. We got a brand new car with zero down. BUT, we are looking at getting another car that the total cost of is about 22,000. If we put down about 10,000 dollars.....could we still finance?

If not...how much should we put down on it?

you can finance anything over 7k

I work as a fincance manager at a houston based dealership.

depending what your interest rate is- I would not put that much down if you are getting 0% but if its like 5-7% I would reccomend puting that down!

any amount like 10,000 is an awsome down payment... like that it will lower your interest on buying a car

They will love you at the credit union and give you the best rate possible. But if the dealer offers financing below 3%, take it and put a goodly portion into a CD that pays 5%. You%26#039;ll make a bit on the difference. However, that%26#039;s only if you can afford the higher payments while the CD builds up in value.

LESS MONEY OWED = SOMETIMES A BETTER RATE.
