Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

My husband and I are not well on finances and have two cars. Mine will be fixed up by December and should be reliable for the next two years. His could go at anytime.

He seems to think we should lease a used car and trade in one of ours for cash down. It concerns me though. When you have medical bills, emergencies... we still need to go on a honeymoon! And with only one person working I think it would be foolish to buy something... he believes we could afford it I think we would loose it.

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

It all depends on how often you%26#039;d really be using it. If you%26#039;re going to be running around alot then I%26#039;d say it would definitely be a good investment. %26amp; with a newborn there is alot of running back %26amp; forth to the doctor. Even new cars nowadays are so cheap, %26amp; you would definitely be saving on gas. Even just get a newer car for your husband to take to %26amp; from work %26amp; keep the better one of your old ones for emergencies at home will probably save you in the long run. Just sit down, figure out exactly what you can afford, forget about that honeymoon, %26amp; go from there.

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

New car is the last thing I would be worrying about even more so since you both don%26#039;t work. As long as you have a good working car for the person who needs to get to work everyday I wouldn%26#039;t add on the extra cost and worry of a car payment.

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

I would say as long as your car is reliable then wait, having a new born is a huge added expense and with a car payment to it might be to over whelming.

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

Nice car? Not important. Reliable car - very important.

I can%26#039;t think of anything worse than my car breaking down somewhere with my kids in it. I would definitely be conservative with your finances right now. Just my opinion.

Good luck!

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

Skip the honeymoon and get a reliable and safe car! You have precious cargo now!

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

need a honeymoon?? no you don%26#039;t, it would be nice, but reliable transportation is a necessity.

sorry, but forget the honeymoon and get a reliable car - or get both of yours fixed up.

it is much more foolish to spend money on a vacation than on a necessity.

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

skip the honeymoon, get a safe car!!!

I had a volkswagon before my 2nd baby. it was terrible. I did everything I could to get a new safe car. we made sacrifices for a while, but well worth it!!!

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

why do you need the honeymoon right now i would think a good car would come be for a honeymoon after all you have the rest of your life%26#039;s to take a honeymoon but if your unreliable car breaks down in the middle of a high way with your newborn baby in it that would cost you way more then a honeymoon would even you would be paying for that for the rest of your life%26#039;s

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

Honeymoon should be the last thing on the agenda. If your car still needs to be %26quot;fixed up%26quot;, don%26#039;t you think a nicer car that is already reliable would be a good idea? You don%26#039;t have to get a brand new one, but a reliable one. That%26#039;s important with children.

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

dosnt necessarily have to be a NICE car, but more important one that works, one that you dont have to worry about not starting when you are running baby to an emergancy or something (for example) as long as the car works and wont break down on you, i think a new one can wait till you can really afford it.

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

A nice car isn%26#039;t important. A safe reliable car that will last a while is important. If at least one of your cars will last for a while, then I would say that%26#039;s all you need for now.

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

that is tough. This is why I like being a single mom! I make my own choices. I would go with reliable for right now personally and go for fancy later. It would sure suc if a nice looking vehicle turned out to be a lemon,

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

I think even if your car isn%26#039; t that reliable as long as you have a cell phone you should be okay. because if the car breaks down you can call someone to get you.

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

All you need is a safe vehicle.

When we had our first child, we had one vehicle that I thought was safe and another one I thought was iffy. When my son was 2, my husband was driving the %26quot;safe%26quot; vehicle with our son in the back seat and they were t-boned by a GMC Jimmy going 40 miles an hour. Crash test ratings, btw, are generally done at 30 mph.

Anyway, at the last second, my husband saw the other vehicle coming and stepped on the brake so that she%26#039;d hit the driver%26#039;s portion of the vehicle instead of the back seat.

Our vehicle was totaled, but my husband was safe and our child, well-protected in a very good car seat in the middle of the back seat, was perfectly okay. If they would have been in our other vehicle, my husband would have been killed for sure as the bumper of the Jimmy would have gone through the window and hit him in the head.

I have always been very glad that we decided early on that the baby would only travel in our one safe vehicle and not the other one.

So...if you have at least one vehicle that%26#039;s not rusted out and will provide good protection for your baby, I don%26#039;t think you need to get a different car. But if your don%26#039;t have that, I agree with your husband and you need to replace one of them. Leasing probably isn%26#039;t the best idea -- it%26#039;d be cheaper to buy something -- but you should have at least one safe vehicle.

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

That%26#039;s a tough question. Obviously you want a vehicle that is safe for your child. But, if yours will last a while longer, it makes more sense to hold off purchasing. My husband and I drove the crappiest cars the 1st 3.5 years we had children. They would break down, etc. We have just now (4 years into it) purchased a new vehicle. But, we waiting until we could afford the payments. If you can wait, I would. No sense getting yourself into a vehicle you can%26#039;t afford right now...good luck!

Newborn Baby: How important is a nice car??

A %26quot;nice%26quot; car isn%26#039;t important, but a reliable one is. My car is a crappy %26#039;93 Chevy wagon, it sucks, but it works. What you may want to do instead of spending extra money leasing a car, use that money to fix up the ones you already have. That way you%26#039;re not paying monthly for something when you don%26#039;t need to.
